Compare an existing fixture with a proposed one
Enter the current and proposed flow rates, minutes used per day, and your marginal water rate per 1,000 gallons. Use the variable rate that would actually change with consumption. The estimate excludes fixed fees, heating energy, financing, maintenance, and changes in usage behavior.
Formula and limits
Annual gallons saved = (current flow − proposed flow) × daily minutes × 365. Estimated annual water savings = gallons saved ÷ 1,000 × the variable rate. Simple payback = installed cost ÷ annual water savings, when savings are greater than zero.
For example, reducing flow by 1 gallon per minute for 10 minutes a day saves an estimated 3,650 gallons per year. At an assumed variable rate of $10 per 1,000 gallons, that is $36.50 per year. These are illustrative inputs, not Aurora utility rates or promised savings.
Choose the right fixture, not just a number
